Children's Catechism
Teacher: Julia M.

Children's Catechism class is devoted to teaching the foundational truths of the Christian faith in a fun and easy "question and answer format."

They meet every Wednesday at 6:30 PM in the children's wing.

What exactly is a "catechism?" There is some confusion as to what it is, however,  a catechism is simply a method of teaching involving a "question and answer format." We've included an example of a catechism "question and answer" below:

  • Question: What is the chief end of man?
  • Answer: Man’s chief end is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever.
  • Scripture: 1 Corinthians 10:31Psalm 16:1137:473:25-26Isaiah43:7.
  • Comment: "Glorify" does not mean make glorious. It means [to] reflect or display as glorious. Other words you could use for "end" are "goal" or "purpose".

More information on what a catechism is can be found here in an article supplied by "Desiring God." Perspectives by this resources outside of the link provided may not necessarily reflect the views of Northwest Baptist Church. If you have any questions, please contact us.

  • Webpage Updates

The "Salvation" and "Media" areas of the website have been changed and include new content and videos. The media page includes clips from "9Marks," a ministry dedicated to equipping leaders and churches to see what a biblical church looks like, and to take practical steps for becoming one.
